Important Notice

Please be aware that the U.S. Department of Education requires that Oregon review its performance levels for all grades in the content areas of Mathematics, Reading/Literature and Science. These performance levels will be adopted by the state board by February, 2007 and will be applied retroactively to all tests administered during the 06-07 school year. Your school may therefore have more students designated as "Does Not Yet Meet" after this review occurs.

Off-Year Work Samples

You now have another option for entering work samples other than just choosing a benchmark level. Work samples can now be saved for 2nd, 4th, 6th, 7th, and 9th grades. One way this might be useful is if some 4th grade students are ready to meet Benchmark II, while others are not. The former assessments may be scored and entered for Benchmark II, and the latter assessments may be scored and entered at grade level.

Custom Assessments

Do you want to track assessment data in MIM that is not tracked by the state or district? Mastery in Motion introduces a way to enter custom assessments for the school or individual class. Under tools, you can create and add new custom assessments. You will have the option of choosing the level, subject, title, heading, the overall score, the performance level type (i.e., traditional A-F grades, meets, grade level, etc.), and how many skills you want to include. After entering scores by class or individual student, this information will be available in four types of reports.

This new feature is very flexible and allows everything from assessments with just single entry scores with no performance levels, to assessments with multiple skills and performance levels. You can now use MIM to track, analyze and report what is important in your school and individual classroom.

Reading

ODE has made the transition to the new reading assessments that students are taking 3rd - CIM. We will keep the generic labels for the reading skill areas to account for the prior years assessment format.

(Reading results before 2005-2006 are part of the MIM database. Since the skills were different before 2005-2006, we need to continue labeling the reading sub-skills as SRCs)
